The Grand Winner: A Seven-Year Break Ends With a Personal Record

After seven years away from Fast Buds and some disappointing experiences with other genetics, our Grand Winner decided to give Gorilla Z Auto another shot. And we're glad they did!
Full Post:
"Been growing autos for a while now and tried quite a few breeders at this point.
Used to be pretty happy with Mephisto. Sour Stomper was probably my favorite auto for years, pure fire especially for what autos were like 10 years ago. They had some really cool stuff.
But idk what happened since around covid. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but I started getting way too many weird plants. Twisted leaves, mutations, funky growth from the start etc. And when seeds aren’t exactly cheap or easy to get it gets annoying pretty fast.
Last ones I ran were Alien Pig and Bear Force 1. Alien Pig honestly reminded me of some kind of Amnesia Haze lol. Bear Force 1 was alright, but 2 plants had this weird double main cola mutation going on.
Haven’t touched Fast Buds in like 7 years. Saw that cheap 10 pack Gorilla Z deal and thought fuck it, why not give them another shot. Grabbed that and also got Frostbanger and Cherry Cola RF3 for later.
Around the same time I popped some Night Owl too because I wanted to try their newer stuff.
Tbh Night Owl was probably the biggest disappointment this time. Master Bruce and Disappearing Act were just weird for me. Twisted growth, mutations, weak structure, every plant seemed to have some shit going on. Ended up tossing them because I didn’t feel like wasting more space on them.
Could’ve just been a shitty run/bad luck obviously. Not saying all their stuff is like that.
Gorilla Z on the other hand was just easy as fuck.
Didn’t do anything special. Some defoliation here and there, Terra Aquatica nutes from one of those small starter packs and that’s basically it. Plants just did their thing.
Ended up beating my personal yield record on one of them which I really wasn’t expecting. And thankfully it wasn’t one of those huge autos that grows a ton of weed and then smokes like nothing 😂 Potency was there and terps were really nice too.
One random tip btw, I’ve been curing in TerpLoc style bags lately and I’m pretty sold on them. Moisture stays really stable and imo the smell holds way better after some time.
Probably the thing that surprised me most with FB though was how similar the plants were to what you see in their pics. Pretty consistent overall. I’ve definitely grown seeds where the website photo and what comes out of the tent feel like two completely different strains lol.
Not saying FB is suddenly the holy grail or that Mephisto/Night Owl are shit. I’ll keep trying all of them and whatever else looks interesting. That’s kinda the fun of autos for me.
Just wasn’t expecting my first Fast Buds run in 7 years to go this well.
Cherry Cola RF3 and Frostbanger are next, so we’ll see if it was just luck 😂
Anyone else who’s been running newer Mephisto/Night Owl stuff noticed more weird growth lately or did I just hit a bad batch?"
Best Video: A Closer Look at the Grow
Our Best Video winner gave the community a close-up tour of an autoflower in full flower, showing off its developing buds from top to bottom.
The post was actually about switching grow lights, but the plant quickly became the star of the show. Sometimes a simple grow update is all it takes to catch our attention.
Best Photo: Look at Those Hairs!
Our Best Photo winner is all about the details. This Gorilla Zkittlez top cola caught our attention with its dense structure, heavy resin coverage and wild orange hairs running through the bud.

According to the grower, it wasn't just good-looking either, with a “super fruity and candy gas” aroma to match.
One seriously photogenic cola!
Honorable Mention: 756 Grams of Amnesia Haze Auto
We also had a grow report that deserved a shoutout.
This Amnesia Haze Auto was chopped between days 68 and 75 and produced a whopping 756 g dry from one plant.

This grower shared plenty of details about the setup, feeding and final result, describing the smoke as proper lemon haze with a fast cerebral lift followed by a clean, functional body effect.
Honorable Mention: 290 Grams From One Moby Dick
Another honorable mention goes to a seriously impressive Moby Dick Auto grow.
After 128 days under 24 hours of light, this monster finished at 290 g dry from a single plant.

The same grower also shared another successful run featuring Banana Purple Punch, Purple Lemonade and Lemon Cherry Cookies, with a tent packed full of chunky flowers.
Two grows, two very good reasons to make our honorable mentions.
Honorable Mention: A Purple Haze Monster
Last but not least, a Purple Haze Auto that its grower described as a “real monster.”

And it's easy to see why. The plant grew into an absolute beast, with long branches loaded with buds. The grower was especially happy with the yield and said the result came pretty close to the old-school Purple Haze they remembered.
Definitely one worth showing off.
